Plus, news about the Craft Beer Marketing Awards and AleSmith Brewing’s latest release

This weekend: San Diego Brew Fest

Now in its 11th year, San Diego Brew Fest invites beer lovers to sip unlimited samples at Liberty Station’s NTC Park, scheduled for Saturday, rain or shine. The 21-and-up beer festival was last held in January 2020, a few months shy of the pandemic shutdown.

Among the nearly 80 breweries participating, there are more than 20 local spots, including Beer Roots Brewing, Booze Brothers Brewing, Double Peak Brewing, Harland Brewing, Helix Brewing, Novo Brazil Brewing, Oceanside Brewing, Quantum Brewing, Resident Brewing and Second Chance Beer Co.

Though the beer selection is still being finalized, confirmed taps include Burgeon Beer Co.'s Juice Press, Mikkeller Brewing’s Hop Opera, TapRoom Beer Co.'s Modern Love and The Lost Abbey’s Devotion.

General admission is $50 and includes unlimited samples from 1 to 4 p.m. Early admission, which lets ticketholders into the event at noon, costs $65. Those opting for the extra hour will be served specialty beers — some of the VIP brews from San Diego include TapRoom’s Monastic Disorder, Burgeon’s Island Dreams, Mikkeller’s Beer Geek Cocoa Shake and Lost Abbey’s Gnoel de Abbey.

There will also be lawn games to play, nine food trucks (including Imperial Beach’s Doggos Gus) and performances by cover bands Black Crystal Wolf Kids and Saved by the 90s.
